I did my own gears on my stylist 534 with Terry's instructions and I had no problems at all.
I did lay all the parts on a tray with a towel on it, so I put it back together in the same order I took it apart.
A small flashlight to see into tight spots and some uninterrupted time to spend on my machine was very
helpful. I say go for it. Forget the repair guy. I did this myself after sending it to the shop one year to
have gears done. They only did one and charged me $110. I even asked them to replace the other one if it looked bad.The next year the
gear that meshed with the first one died. No way was I spending that kind of money for another gear. I take better care of my own machine,
thanks to Terry and the help of this group.
